The Academic Evaluation Center (Akademische Prüfstelle, APS) is a service institution of the cultural departments of the German embassies in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It examines the documents of applicants who wish to apply for studies in Germany with a Chinese, Vietnamese or Indian school or university degree. After successful examination, applicants receive a certificate. Who needs a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center? All applicants, who wish to apply for a degree programme at a German university with a Chinese, Vietnamese or Indian school or university degree. This applies to the application for both bachelor's and master's degree programmes, as well as for the application to the Studienkolleg. Only when applying for a doctoral programme, an APS certificate is not required.An APS certificate is not necessary for applications for master's programmes if the master's entrance qualification was not acquired in China, Vietnam or India. The master's entrance qualification is a completed, undergraduate degree programme (usually a bachelor's degree). However, an application for a master's programme without a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Office is only possible, if the bachelor's (from outside China, Vietnam, India) has already been completed and the graduation documents are available. If the bachelor's programme has not yet been completed, an APS certificate must be submitted. A part-time option (PT for short or TZ in German) is offered for this programme. This means the regular study time of the degree programme is doubled and the workload per semester is halved.

Please note: If you are planning to study part-time, please discuss this in advance with your visa or immigration office if you are coming to Germany on a study visa.

In order to be admitted to a master's degree programme, you must meet the basic requirements that apply throughout Germany as well as the specific requirements for the degree programme of your choice at the University of Bayreuth.

Basic requirements

You need a basic master's entrance qualification for German universities (information can be found here) ⇒ The university and university degree must be recognised in Germany. In most cases, this is pre-checked by uni-assist. You will be shown via this guide whether you need to obtain pre-examination documentation from uni-assist after selecting your desired degree programme.

Application in due form and time ⇒ This means that the application must be received in full with all the necessary documents in the required form by the specified deadline
Language skills required for the degree programme
Fulfilment of the requirements specified for the respective degree programme - e.g. fit in terms of content, aptitude assessment procedure, minimum grade
